I would like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Pat Collins, and I am thankful for being chosen as the head coach for the U13 Girls Competitive Lacrosse team.
I was a House League coach last year with the U13 Girls and have coached lacrosse for over 6 years. I have played both hockey and lacrosse for over 40 years and really enjoy giving back my experience with the children. I also had the privilege and honour to play professional lacrosse back in 2001 with the Ottawa Rebel.
My deep passion for sports, especially lacrosse, combined with my strong sense of commitment and determination, will help me teach the fundamental skills of the game. Through this, I aim to not only help the girls improve their abilities but also foster a sense of confidence within them. Moreover, I hope to build a team culture where new friendships can flourish, bringing the team closer together and enhancing their overall experience on and off the floor.
A few key goals I have are to ensure the girls are safe, enjoying themselves, and continuously developing their lacrosse skills. I also aim to encourage both personal and team goal-setting, helping each player to challenge themselves and grow. It’s not about being the fastest runner, the highest scorer, or the most skilled player, but rather about fostering a team first mentality. I want to inspire the girls to ask themselves, 'What can I do to help my teammates improve?' and focus on being the best teammate they can be. Together, we’ll build a supportive and cohesive team where everyone contributes to each other's success.
Thank you to all the parents for registering your daughters with the Nepean Knights. I know we will have a lot of fun this season!
As the season is fast approaching, we are going to need volunteers to help with key roles on the team - including Assistant Coaches, Trainers, Team Manager, Fundraising, Social Activities, Time Keeper, etc. My goal is to ensure every child's family has a role on the team in some capacity. It takes a village to make a season successful.
I am really excited for the season ahead! I look forward to meeting everyone! See you at the rink!
